Freedom in Our Imperfection

As a working mom, I often feel the pressure to be everything – the perfect wife, the perfect mother, the perfect career woman. It’s a heavy burden to carry, and one that I know many other women share. But the truth is, we’re not called to be perfect. We’re called to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:30).

The pursuit of perfection can lead to feelings of inadequacy, guilt, and shame. It can distract us from what truly matters: our relationship with God. When we focus on being “perfect,” we often neglect our spiritual well-being. We become so caught up in trying to meet everyone else’s expectations that we forget to take care of ourselves.

But when we let go of the burden of perfection, we find freedom. We can stop striving to be everything to everyone and instead focus on what truly matters. We can prioritize our relationship with God, knowing that He loves us unconditionally, just as we are.

When we make God our focus, everything else falls into place (or falls away completely). Our relationships become more meaningful, our work becomes more fulfilling, and our lives become more peaceful. We find joy in the simple things and peace in the midst of chaos.

So, let’s drop the burden of perfection. Let’s embrace our imperfections and find freedom in our relationship with God. We are loved, we are worthy, and we are enough.
